I'm with Shelly on this one. I don't see another soap coming along, if any of them are cancelled. It's kind of a shame, really. Soap operas have been around for as long as I can remember.

AMC works for me as a replacement, as I've started recording it a week before RPG started there. Hearing BE's possibly going there there makes me even gladder I've done it

Another thing that bugs me about GL. In the past several years and more so recently, there are very few familiar sets. I miss seeing the old Cross Creek set, the kitchen at the Bauer house, Reva's old house, the Spaulding study and dining room, the old Company, the San Cristobal sets, the old hospital, and it goes on and on. Harley's house is somewhat the same, but ugly and silly for not being finished for years. Cassie's farm seems sort of different nowdays. I think the show is just missing a familiarity that is needed in soaps. You want to feel like you are visiting friends or family, but the sets just feel so stark, unfriendly and keeps you guessing as to where they are supposed to be. I just want to see them discussing things in a kitchen again, instead of a park, that is so general and open. How does GL compare in respect to other soaps in this regard? I don't watch any others now. When I did watch other soaps, they were like GL used to be in the old...

GL is my only soap, and if it should go, then I am done with soaps. I love happy, breezy days on soaps (as in Friday's show with Jeffrey and Reva) but we get so few of those.

Well, take it from me guys ---- there is life after GL. Those who have known me for some years know I have watched GL since I was five years old - that's almost 35 years!!!!! Well, I have ALWAYS been a die-hard fan - never quit watching for anything. I never quit during the clone story, time travel, etc. (when so many people said it was so bad). I always loved GL and couldn't bear to miss a day. I taped no matter what. But, I quit watching at least a year ago. Can't remember exactly when, time goes by so quickly. I quit right after Jonathan left the first time. Now, I tune in occasionally (like when Edmund came back, when Jonathan has come back, when Gus died, etc.). But, I just couldn't stay interested in GL anymore. It has gotten that bad, IMO. I have watched AMC since 1980 and OLTL since the late 80's (off and on). I am enjoying both of those soaps. Surprisingly, I don't miss GL at all. I still think about Reva, Josh and all my old buddies....

I have been watching GH, I love LW! The show has been so good and soo sad! LW is doing a wonderful job as Carly! So, seeing that I'am watching it now thats what I would be sticking to. I'am a cbs kind of gal but as I have said that is what I 'am watchng now and will continue to do so. As much as I love GL, it simpy has'nt done it for me. There are NO couples that I care about. . . NONE! The ones that I did care about are gone, so whats the point? I love a good love story gl is void in that area, from where I stand. There is a saddness when I think that it will be gone. But if there is no improvement I don't think there will be a gl and that to bad.

I'll stick with GL until the end. However, I started watching AMC over a year ago. I think that my DVR was trying to tell me something yesterday-- it only taped AMC and the programming for GL had disappeared.

No need to leave CBS. What happen when a soap bites the dust? Along come another CBS soap.

I don't believe that is true any longer. Soap Operas are a dying breed. NBC is down to two soaps now. I do not believe CBS would put another soap on to replace GL if it were to be canceled. JMHO

I won't give up on GL either...no matter what the SLs are I just couldn't imagine it being gone!!

I'm in with all of you though...I watch AMC...as well as OLTL, GH, Y&R, occasionally Days...all due to Soapnet of course. I've also seen an episode or two of As The World Turns, but , not enough to follow the SL too well, and with the kids it is tough to keep up with it. Anyway I love the board and the people I've met, so I'll come along!!

I'm kinda in the same boat as kohari - I used to watch ATWT and GL both faithfully, everyday - up until a couple 2 or 3 years (or more ago) when I lost some interest in ATWT - I now only catch it occasionally and don't worry about it....maybe a few minutes here and there but never do I sit down and watch the whole entire show like I do GL. I will watch GL till it's last breath and hopefully that won't be for years and years - but IF it were to happen in my lifetime - I might attempt to get renewed interest in ATWT simply because of my past history with it........but I used to also watch AMC - back when Erica was young and falling in love for her first time and most of the people I knew and loved on there then are no longer even aruond so it would be like starting all over again. Someone would have to fill me in.....but I would want to be able to continue to hang out with the rest of you....including Guy and Phillip - so I would follow wherever the majority decides to...

i watch atwt when i have a chance now, so i will probably pick it up on a more regulas basis and then add amc to stay in touch with the people of this board of whom i have grown very fond. i know absolutely nothing about amc so if the awful time comes when the light goes out...you people in the know concerning amc will have to fill me in. i just keep hoping something great will happen and the light stays on.

Along come another CBS soap.

Like when we lost The Edge of Night, Search for Tomorrow, Loving, ect.....
Then came the
......................The young & Restless
........................The Bold & Beautiful..............ect.......
I just wonder if GL bite the dust, will the try to do a write off of the GL, using some characters or
just a hold new Soap.
An what would be the name of it?

I will watch GL until the last day I presume. If that happens, I will probably find another soap. I used to watch AMC and ATWT until they both got boring years ago and switched to GL. All soaps have writing troubles I think and goofy stories. I also watched General Hospital at one time. I would probably go to ATWT since my daughter watches it, unless it bites the dust too.

I had been thinking about this as well I think some of us might be feeling worried about our beloved soap.
We know it will be here till 2009 but then what? I do feel if the show keeps doing what it is doing it might
be canceled. What will we do? This is what we have in common as a whole, so if that common link is gone
then what?
