As everyone knows, Hurricane Gustav is heading toward New Orleans - we have two long-standing posters that live in the area - Kathryn in NO and MasaJ in Baton
Rouge. Kathryn and her husband have a large farm and they are staying with the animals. They are not evacuating. They had much devastation three years ago
after Katrina, and I'm sure they are terrified. MasaJ may get a lot more damage from Gustav than Katrina.
I ask you all to pray for our friends and their families. We hope to hear of their safety as soon as possible. Jamie |

Thanks for the heads up, Jamie! I've definitely got prayers going up for Kathryn and MasaJ.......and for their families, homes, animals, etc. I can only
imagine what they are fearing right now as I've never been in a hurricane or been in their communities after Katrina.......my hearts go out to them.

There are severe floods and storms hitting my native land, and there is much suffering and sorrow now.
And, the same is true of my adopted land right now. There are other disasters hitting elsewhere in the world too. For one and all, we offer our daily prayer - here is an English translation: "Auspiciousness be unto All. Peace be unto All. Freedom from want be unto All. Prosperity be unto All. May All be well! May All be healthy! May All look to the good of others! May None suffer from sorrow!"

Thanks everyone. I got lights back about an hour and half ago. It's such a relief. This hurricane was the worst one I've ever been in. The winds were
between 90 and 100 mph. Scary. Baton Rouge is pretty devestated. There are trees everywhere, roof's torn off and no eletricity for over 24 hours pretty
much in the whole city. We were some of the first to get it back and there's still ALOT of people without. It's freaky. I hope Kathryn is ok. I've
only heard a little of the news from her area. I don't think it was as devestating to them as Katrina because the levees didn't break, but I'm not
sure. I just hope they are ok.
I live in a townhouse and my skylight blew off, so I have a hole in my ceiling until tomorrow when they will put a tarp until they can fix it. I own it, but thank goodness the outside of the building is management's responsibility so I don't have to pay for that.

Thank God you are all OK. I have been praying for y'all. I have been praying hard for Kathryn's animals. I was wondering what was going to happen with
that, I knew that she had quite a few of them. I hope they are all OK. Jamie, let us know when you find out anything. You are always so good at finding out!

Kathryn may not have power back yet and that's why she has not been able to post here.
Also I'm sure there's lots of work to be done to take care of all the farm animals too.

I hope everyone is okay. The media seems to be so focused on New Orleans and what didn't happen that I don't think they have showed enough of what
really happened in other areas.
Masa I'm sorry to hear you have a big hole in your ceiling. Was your interior water damaged? I'm glad that management will fix it. Hopefully you won't have to wait too long. I know in Florida last year a lot of people had to wait for months to have damage fixed. We are hoping Gustav or what is left of it will make it here, but I don't think it will. It has rained seven tenths at my house in 5 weeks. We desperately need the rain. |

Shelly, The only water damage is the shute going to the skylight. I've yet to clean it because I keep waiting for the tarp. We're expecting more rain
today..just hopefully not too much. New Orleans didn't really get what the rest of us got. We(the whole state) have been declared a major disaster area.
It's hard to explain..with Katrina it was all about the levees breaking and flooding. We have major wind damage from the 90-100 winds. Homes were
destroyed, but trees are everywhere, and lots have no electricity and will not get it for up to a month. The living conditions are pretty bad.
Is Gustav supposed to make it up to ya'll Shelly? I haven't heard where it is right now. I know it dumped lots of rain and winds in Northern Louisiana...so it is going North. I hope you get some rain.

It is making its way across Arkansas now I think. We have a 60% chance of rain Thursday night from its remnants. We are getting the outer bands' cloud
cover today.

The remanents of Gustav is in Kansas/Missouri, Arkansas, and Oklahoma today. It's so odd we're getting rain coming from the east, instead of northwest
like always! I've only had on the four state area map, so not sure where else it's hitting. I hope you get some of this rain, Shelly. We're down
for the month of August but up 19 inches for the year, so we're really not doing too bad.
So thankful that Masaj had little damage. Seems like the media is focused on New Orleans, but not much of anywhere else. I think that sucks. People need to know while (thank you, Lord) NO didn't get hit directly and is still having problems, other parts of La where hit way worse and need our thoughts/prayers/help. Seems the media is always one sided on everything though. ![]() Praying daily for our Guy ![]() |

I'm so glad to hear you didn't have any more damage, personally, than the skylight. Now we just need to hear more from Kathryn. Keeping you all in my
thoughts and prayers. It must be beyond terrible to be dealing with all of this again.
